Police Refuse to Protect Gay Pride Parade in Kiev

The Police have said that they refuse "to carry out the criminal orders of the leadership to protect the gay pride parade in Kiev." This was announced by the All Ukrainian Union of Veterans.

"The position of the leadership of the national police regarding the gay pride parade is biased. <...> We, the members of the National police, refuse to perform the criminal orders of the leadership to beat the patriots that will counter the gay parade," quoted Lenta.ru from the statement  made by the Ukrainian law enforcement authorities.

The statement also notes that the holding of a gay parade in Kiev will be negatively perceived by the public.

US Congressmen Call on Kiev to Protect LGBT March From Radicals

A group of US congressmen urged the Ukrainian authorities to protect the rights of participants of the LGBT parade in Kiev. The open letter sent to the Ambassador of Ukraine from the United States urged Kiev to ensure the safety of participants of the parade from threats that are expressed by the supporters of radical right-wing groups.

"The Ukrainian government must protect the right of Ukrainian citizens to a peaceful assembly and ensure protection of the current "Kiev pride" march for civil equality," quotes the "Interfax" agency from the letter by American congressmen.

The US Congress has attended to the protection of the rights of participants of the LGBT movement in Ukraine after the march in Lviv, where supporters of radical movements attacked the marchers in support of the rights of sexual minorities.

Noting the rise in violence against members of the LGBT community, the congressmen at the same time expressed their approval of the antidiscrimination amendments to legislation adopted in Ukraine concerning sexual minorities.

"Right Sector" Vows to Disrupt LGBT Pride Parade in Kiev

Ukrainian nationalists want to prevent the holding of a LGBT pride parade in Kiev. This was reported by the Ukrainian website "Корреспондент.net" with reference to the head of press service of the banned in Russia group "Right Sector" Artem Skoropadsky.

"Today we are forced to agree with LGBT marches and festivals, and thus, to be among sinners and those who cover them. No, we will not calmly watch as the country for which we sacrificed our blood for on many fronts is destroyed from the rear by sneaky methods of hybrid war in the peaceful capital,"  he said.

Ukrainian nationalists believe that their duty is to prevent the substitution of notions, "when human baseness and perversion is called the struggle for freedom". All radicals were urged to come out on the streets on June 12th and prevent the LGBT march by activists in Kiev.
