Meet the Israeli-Ukrainian politician who demanded genocide for Donbass

June 1, 2016 -
Translated by J. Arnoldski

On June 1st, 2014, the bookseller from Troeshchina and Israeli citizen Borukh Blyakher (now famous as the people’s deputy Borislav Bereza) wrote a long text calling for the mass murder of residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions who, in his opinion, are “traitors” by virtue of their place of residence.

Borislav wrote that some “military guys” allegedly guaranteed someone (probably him) “a full cleansing of Eastern Ukraine in 20 days.” But everyone knows the results [of what actually happened].

Borislav proposed five phases for the cleansing operation. Borislav saw the first phase of the “operation” like this: “loudspeakers should announce that the civilian population should leave the territory within three days, after which everyone still on the territory will be declared accomplices of the enemy. People should be put through filtration camps.”

The second phase: “The city should be subject to a massive attack using all kinds of weapons.”

The third phase: a complete repetition of the first one.

The fourth phase: a complete repetition of the second one.

Then will be the final phase of the operation. “The spotless purging of the city should be followed by a street sweeper.”

Here is his assessment of the local residents: “Those who want to stand as a human shield to protect the occupiers are not brainwashed citizens of Ukraine, but accomplices of a hostile state and are traitors. They should always and at all times be destroyed. The inhabitants of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions still have some time to decide on whose side they’re on and if they will leave or stay in the area of the future operation.”

Thus, the future deputy declared the local residents who did not leave the place of residence “traitors,” and for this reason has called for them to be liquidated. Did I get this right? If this is not an incitement of genocide, and incitement of hatred by virtue of place of residence, then what is this?

The worst thing of all is that this misanthropic text was reposted by 2,427 people on their accounts, and more than 4.2 thousand liked it.

Borislav Bereza is now a people’s deputy and the deputy chairman of the committee for fighting corruption. Last year, he bought his wife a new car and showed in a declaration that he has millions in income. He’s had a “successful life.”

But real millions - millions of people - will remember him totally differently.
