Azerbaijan's ISIS Brigade Travelled from Syria to Nagorno-Karabakh

4th April, 2016

The Azerbaijani "Islamic State" Brigade, which consists of hundreds of people, have left Syria to start a war in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the website 3mv.ru, citing information from military sources. The radicals' path home is via Turkey.

Amateur Azerbaijani fighters caused a big scandal in a terrorist camp in Raqqa; ISIS fighters have an extremely negative attitude towards misconduct, especially given the recent military successes of the Syrian government forces.

This is not the first escapade of the Azeris: ISIS terrorists have accused their Azerbaijani colleagues of treason in the past. For example, in January 2015, the terrorists executed field commander Siraj Azeri after catching him spying.

During the fighting in Syria, about a hundred Azerbaijani citizens have been killed. These figures were provided by the official media agencies of the Transcaucasian Republic. In reality, this figure may be much higher.

As a reminder, the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh escalated on 2nd April. The representatives of the unrecognized NKR, the Armenian Defense Ministry, and Azerbaijani security officials all reported shelling and clashes.

According to the UN, 33 people were killed during the fighting in the breakaway Republic, and about 200 were injured.
