Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
12th June, 2016

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has denied the information that Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the area of Avdeevka. The department wrote this on Facebook.

“Information on casualties that night - losses in the ranks of the APU is not true!”, the report said.

The Defense Ministry reported that according to the information checked by staff, last night (June 11th) took place without any APU losses, that is, none of the Ukrainian military died.

However, the Donetsk People's Republic, think otherwise, and claim that as a result of an unsuccessful attempt to storm the positions of the DPR, 9 Ukrainian punishers were killed.

Rada Threatens Rupture in Diplomatic Relations With Russia After Attack on Embassy

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
12th June, 2016

Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Sergei Sobolev did not rule out the rupture of diplomatic relations between Russia and Ukraine after the incident at the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow. He stated this to the radio station "Moscow speaking".

During Saturday night, about a hundred young people pelted the Embassy of Ukraine with eggs, and then disappeared. According to a RIA Novosti source in law enforcement, there was no "violent conflict" during the action.

The actions were a response to the events in Odessa, where hundreds of nationalists picketed the building of the Russian Consulate to disrupt the celebration of the Day of Russia.

Sobolev did not consider it and the other incident as something serious, but acknowledged that the cessation of diplomatic relations is "a natural process in such situations."

The Deputy did not specify whether he would continue his work at the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow after the incident, noting that such decisions should be made by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

Rada Deputy Proposes to Take Russians Hostage

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
12th June, 2016

Deputy of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Semen Semenchenko proposed to take citizens of Russia hostage, and then exchange them for detained Ukrainians.

"How to release them? It's simple. The other side is taken prisoner, or rather as hostages, because Russian officers and mercenaries do not have the status of prisoners of war. I think governors know that we have an unofficial mass of groups in the border zone. These people are armed in the "Voentorg", they do not have any relation to our side. And each of our hostages will be exchanged with them," Semenchenko declared on the air of "Schuster Live".

On May 19th, Vyshhorod district court in the Kiev region declared the provision of Semen Semenchenko as commander of a battalion of special purpose military units illegal, as he did not serve in the Armed forces and did not take the military oath.

Russian officials have repeatedly stated that Russia is not a party to the armed conflict in Donbass.

Spontaneous Protest Held in Moscow at the Embassy of Ukraine

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
11th June, 2016

According to participants, it was a reaction to the thwarted reception at the Consulate General of Russia in Odessa by Ukrainian nationalists.

A civil correspondent from "Ridus" reported that about two hundred people gathered at the Ukrainian Embassy to express their dissatisfaction. The action was purely peaceful, people chanting slogans like "fascism will not pass", holding banners in their hands. On Twitter, meanwhile, there were allegations that the Embassy was pelted with eggs.

The project "60sec" published, in a traditional minute, a YouTube video about the campaign:

As a reminder, earlier in the afternoon, about fifty members of the "Azov" battalion and "Right Sector" blocked the entrance to the Consulate General of Russia in Odessa, disrupting the reception in honour of the Day of Russia. The Consulate was pelted with eggs and potatoes, and people who came to the reception were forced to kneel down and shout that they are Ukraine. According to the "ataman of the Gaydamak black sea group" Sergey Gusalyuk, the participants wanted "to at least identify supporters of the "aggressor country".

"Now the negotiations on the transfer of Afanasiev and Soloshenko will go to the diplomatic level, everything is at the stage "just about". Movement is all that is needed - we signed. This is a different paper, including consent to serving the sentence on the territory of Ukraine - it is one of the transfer mechanisms," said Afanasiev's lawyer Alexander Popkov.

Also, according to the defence, Soloshenko and Afanasiev wrote a petition to the President of Russia for a pardon, and signed a number of other papers necessary for the transfer of prisoners.

Nazarbayev: Attack in Aktobe Was Committed by Followers of Salafism

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
10th June, 2016

Almost all the terrorists were eliminated, a few are wanted, but the security forces are actively engaged in the search.

The attack in Aktobe was committed by followers of Salafism, said the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, during the meeting of the Security Council. According to him, almost all the terrorists have already been eliminated.

"We already know that it was a terrorist attack of followers of the nontraditional religious movement of Salafism. By providing religious freedom in the Republic, we at the same time intend to give a decisive rebuff to all who, under the guise of religious slogans, will undermine the situation in the country," said the head of Kazakhstan.

UAF Positions US Guidance Systems Before Shelling DPR

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
10th June, 2016

The beginning of the shelling of DPR territory during the night of the 9th of June coincided with the arrival of a US military diplomats and the deployment of American artillery targeting systems near Avdeevka. This was stated today by Deputy Commander of the Operational Command Denis Sinenkov at a briefing.

"It should be noted that the provocation coincided within a minute of the deployment of two US radar artillery aiming systems AN-TPQ-48 and AN-TPQ-36," he said.

Sinenkov noted that at the same time, a group of military diplomats were spotted near Avdeevka, "headed by Colonel M. van Devilche and his assistant E. Selfom, accompanied by representatives of the Armed Forces".

"Yesterday's cynical scale of the shelling of settlements of the Republic, which resulted in casualties among civilians and the destruction of homes, was adjusted by unmanned UAF aerial vehicles," said the commander.

11 Year Old Russian Child Beaten in Odessa, Just For Being From Lugansk

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
9th June, 2016

"Ukrainians in Odessa beat an 11-year-old Russian immigrant from Lugansk, a patient with cerebral palsy. A child, sick with cerebral palsy, went for treatment to the specialized "Lustdorf" sanatorium, and became the subject of aggression by peers. The result was a closed craniocerebral brain trauma. 11-year-old Andrey, Lugansk resident, moved to Odessa along with his mother back in 2014, in June, when the fighting in Donbass began - named the Ukrainian authorities' "anti-terrorist operation". The barbaric bombing of the city left a terrible impression on this family, and they decided to leave their homeland, choosing a Russian-speaking region of Ukraine.

Andrey has a mild form of cerebral palsy, he can move independently and, thanks to fully intact intelligence, study a mainstream school program. In Odessa, he studied at the specialized №7 school. He studied well, got good grades, and made new friends. All was going well until the boy became a part of the program of rehabilitation of children-orphans and internally displaced children with cerebral palsy, for which the Ministry of Education, Family and Youth of Ukraine organized a rest in the "Lustdorf" sanatorium.

The group of sick children were met by a cultural program and sweet gifts. The candy that was given to Andrey attracted the attention of three boys. They were older and stronger, so they took the candy from the little child from the Lugansk region. Upon request to give the gift back, the children did not react. After more than two years, adults say that  migrants from Donbass are not people, but "cotton", "separatist", and "Colorado". When Andrey took a corn stick out of the bag that one of the offenders was holding, he was knocked to the ground and they started beating him. Where the teachers were at this time is not clear for the mother of Andrey - Irina - or those who found out about this story. Here's what Irina said:

My son said that they were given candy, three boys took some and he was not given any. He took their corn sticks from the pile without asking, and they pushed him and started beating him. Where the teachers were at this moment, I don't know.

Irina only learned about the incident the next day. Rather, they tried to cover up the story, and if not for the consequences of beating a child, anything could have happened. Unfortunately, bruises and grazes was not the end. Andrey appeared to be vomiting, a previously not peculiar opening of the mouth, a convulsive disorder since birth. The boy, previously sociable and cheerful, began to be afraid of people. The doctors diagnosed a closed craniocerebral injury and 2nd degree concussion. They refused to hospitalise Andrey, having referred him to surgery in the Department of Neurosurgery. Therefore, after the treatment the child will go home.

The mother decided to not leave the incident without attention, and intends to ensure the punishment of those responsible. The staff of the hospital, where the facts of the beating of the boy were stated, reported it to the police. Irina also wrote a statement to the police. A day later she was informed that the staff of the sanatorium opened a criminal case. As long as everything goes according to the rules, it seems that the perpetrators will be identified and punished. But Irina has doubts. After all, the main "Lustdorf" doctor Anatoly Sadovnik is the Deputy of the Odessa regional Council, and could use his influence to hush up the case.

The boy suffered injuries and most terrible of them are not even physical but psychological. God willing, the consequences of a concussion of the brain in the form of seizures will be under the influence of drugs, and the bruises and abrasions will heal faster. But how to heal the terrible wounds to the heart? How to make a child with a disability once again begin to trust people and to interact with their peers? Will time help and psychologists?

P. S. While in Odessa, on the international day of the protection of children, when a small child from Lugansk was beaten, DPR children marked the holiday on the squares and in concert venues. Children with disabilities did not remain without attention. For example, the guys from the project "Special Child", which brings together families of children with autism and autism-like disorders, philanthropists who wished to remain anonymous, gave a memorable holiday with a cultural program, gifts, and sets of sweets.

Ukrainian Radio Stations Will Be Obliged to Play the National Anthem Twice a Day

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
9th June, 2016

The head of the National television and radio broadcasting council of Ukraine Yuri Artemenko made radio stations in the country play the Ukrainian anthem daily.

Artemenko wrote about this on his page on Facebook.

He noted that submitting the corresponding proposal to the radio committee "unifies the most powerful radio stations of Ukraine." According to the Chairman of the National television and radio broadcasting council, the Ukrainian national anthem should be run on the air in the mornings and evenings.

"As far as I know, the radio committee unanimously supported the proposal and plans to present it tomorrow after this release. Insider information," writes Artemenko.

He also expressed hope that this initiative will be supported and implement by the broadcasters.

"I dream of a time when every citizen will be very proud of their country, whether it's our Ukraine or the United States. The national anthem is played by the radio, and people are waving blue–yellow flags in their yards," said the head of the national council.

According to him, the Soviet Union in this regard was "not so bad" — the Communist party educated its citizens in the spirit of loyalty to the state and people".

"Every day state radio began and ended with the national anthem of the USSR. So it brought patriotism," emphasizes Artemenko.

Ukrainian Authorities Urge to Not Pay Attention to Statements Made by Nadiya Savchenko

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
9th June, 2016

The representative of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, George Tuka, urged all to ignore the harsh statements made by the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Nadiya Savchenko.

"I, honestly, would not attach much importance to Nadiya's statements until she has had at least some time to adapt, to simply have a rest, bask, and become immersed in an environment that has changed in these two years" quoted the Ukrainian TV channel "112" from the words of Tuka.

He also believes that it does not make sense for Savchenko to hold direct talks with representatives of the DNR and the LPR.

"And it seems to me, from a policy perspective, such statements are not entirely correct," he concluded.
