The deputy of the National Assembly Thierry Mariani declares that the Supreme Rada (Ukrainian parliament) has not done any of the reforms required by the Minsk agreements towards resolving the crisis in the Donbass.

In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Mr. Mariani has called for sanctions against Kiev for not complying, he said, with the commitments in the Minsk agreements.

The deputy recalled that the French Senate will soon vote on a resolution calling on the EU to lift sanctions introduced against Moscow over the crisis in Ukraine. According to the Russian daily's interview, the resolution, which is of a recommendatory nature, is likely to be adopted.

In April, the National Assembly supported Thierry Mariani's draft resolution calling for lifting the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Moscow.

The extension of anti-Russian sanctions will be discussed in the EU summit scheduled for June 28-29. Several EU member states, including Italy, Greece, and Hungary, have already expressed interest in calling for a softening of sanctions. However, the European Council President Donald Tusk speaking on the sidelines of the recent G7 summit in Japan said that the EU's policy towards Russia would remain unchanged.
