Kiev‬ ‪Ukraine‬‬: New S-300/S-400 SAM Systems Production Facility Opens in Nizhny Novgorod

Russian ASD (Aerospace Defense) company "Almaz — Antey" has opened a new enterprise— "Nizhny Novgorod plant of 70yr anniversary of the Great Victory" in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The plant manufactures components of anti-aircraft missile systems S-400, S-500, “Vityaz”, and "Nebo-M", "Niobium" radar systems.

The new plant will work in conjunction with the “Kirov machine-building enterprise". The Nizhny Novgorod facility will produce the ground components for anti-aircraft missile systems and the company in the Kirov region will produce the missiles.

"Almaz-Antey" has built two air defense systems plants in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov oblasts within the framework of the same project. The total cost amounted to about 65 billion rubles. The project is financed from the budget, the own funds of the group, and a loan from VEB (Vnesheconombank).

At the moment, the plant in Nizhny Novgorod employs 1007 people. After the plant reaches full capacity in 2017 there will be 3000 people.

The construction of the facility began in 2011 on the territory adjacent to the premises of the Nizhny Novgorod machine-building plant. The built-up area is 60.1 ha (148,3 acres). Right now the final assembly, configuration, and verification of products available in the workshops is taking place in the facility. Test benches allow the testing of equipment on site to be carried out without sending it to the proving grounds.

The "Nizhny Novgorod machinery plant" on the territory on which the enterprise is built on produces S-300, S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, antenna complexes, artillery systems, and mortars. The company also produces equipment for the nuclear industry (nuclear reactors for atomic ships, reactors for nuclear power plants). The plant also produces civil products: self-propelled lifting units for the repair of wells (APRS), automotive telescopic boom lifts (AP), and thermal engineering (heating plants, boilers, gas boilers of various types).
